First, you need more shading. For example, his... right front leg should be more darker. Good thing that helps with shading is to draw a sun in one corner of art (SERIOUSLY. XD But don't press pencils so hard, ou must erase it later) and see how light will appear on character's body. Areas that are faaaar away from the centre of the light should be really, really dark. You can also use eraser to add some highlights.

And, you can try to add some more 'fur' effect, but I really don't know how to explain how to do it... well... I think everyone must just try and find a way...

Still, I like it - colours are fantastic for your first attemt with colored pencils. <3 I'm sure you'll get better and better!

This is so gorgeous! It looks so realistic. I love how you've coloured and detailed the fur, it stands out more because of the blue eyes, I think. I adore the expression! Cute little Coyote looks so bored, ahah!
I know this isn't really constructive crit as you asked for, I'm sorry about that. I can't really say anything about shading and stuff like that, I've never really tried it.

What Valita said about the sun light source is excellent. I guess just think if the light is coming from one side then the highlights would all face that way and the shadows would correspond.
